He is Risen! Alleluia!
Indeed! Our greeting on Easter morning is as much an exclamation as it is an affirmation. As each believer comes to realize that Jesus is not in the tomb they begin to reflect on Jesus’ teachings and see for themselves the truth of His Words. Can it really be? Can Jesus be our Savior? No more death? The same as the Father? Over the next weeks we learn even more and celebrate just as the early disciples the wonderment of Christ revealed. Purpose, direction, and courage begin to form in the hearts of those in the early church. Even with the passing of many years these traits are still needed to spread the Gospel. That is why Sunday School is important to your children. April 19, 2009 Today in Sunday School, we study “Jesus Reinstates Peter.” We are all like Peter in our words and actions, denying our Lord and weeping bitterly over what we have done. We are in need of the same comfort that Peter received—the comfort of sins forgiven and the assurance that even though we are faithless, Jesus will remain faithful. You might discuss, “How did Peter express his sorrow and repentance? What specific directions did Jesus give to Peter?” April 26, 2009 In Sunday School today, students learn the story of “Paul’s First Missionary Journey.” Just as God sent Paul and Barnabas to spread the Gospel, so today He sends pastors to preach the Gospel, baptize, and feed Jesus’ body and blood to His children, against whom the gates of hell cannot prevail. Consider discussing, “Who gave Paul directions on where to travel? What was Paul’s message?”
